Shorts spotlight: The Quiz

A movie for people who hate taking tests.

We present THE QUIZ

Director: Daryl Moon

Synopsis: As a man and woman go through the time-honored tradition of the magazine quiz, the man does quite well until he is forced to answer honestly about the Zombie Apocalypse.  A relationship will be tested by its greatest, historic enemy:  The truth.

Laugh Track: How much time and energy did you spend making the movie?

Daryl: The filming took one day, and the post-production took a couple of weeks.

Do you think it was worth all that time/energy?

It was absolutely worth it, as it may be the definitive asking-questions-about-zombies-from-a-magazine film of our generation.

No, honestly. Was it?

Yes, seriously, that is my answer.

What’s the funniest thing that happened on set? And by funniest we mean the most horrible thing.

After about an hour of shooting of principal photography, I realized that I was inadvertently blocking the microphone, thus having ruined the sound takes for everything up until that point.  Although, from what I understand, Michael Bay did the exact same thing when filming “Transformers 3,” although fortunately for him there was no dialogue in that movie and he could just add in the sounds of explosions, so no one noticed any difference.

Convince us why your film should win our top award. Best answer wins the award (joking…or are we?)

My victory in this film festival is what will inspire me, in two years time, to invent time travel.  Using my time machine (made, depressingly, not from a DeLorean but from my seven-year-old Toyota), I will go back in time and help the Union win the Civil War.  Thus, not selecting me as the winner of this film competition is exactly the same as promoting slavery.  So….
