Meet CHARLIE NADLER. Kentucky fried.
Born and raised in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, Charlie now lives Los Angeles and works in the film industry. He takes mediocre care of himself physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Laugh Track: How long have you been a stand-up comic?
Charlie: 1.5 years
What other comics will you be watching during the festival?
I’m hoping to see as many as possible if not all, I love watching stand up comedy! Ron Babcock is a fellow LA-based comic who is in the festival, and I really look forward to seeing him perform. He’s a hilarious guy and was really encouraging and helpful to me when I was first thinking about doing stand up.
[programmer's note: Ron Babcock unfortunately can't attend this year. Sorry Charlie. We're disappointed too.]
If you could give yourself advice when you first started out, what would it be?
It would be to record every single set. When I first started granted I did not have an iPhone or anything cool, but it was very hard to look back at the sets and figure out what worked and what didn’t. You’re so distracted by the audience and where your act is headed that it’s hard to be present enough to recall details that will help improve your jokes.
If your future self ten years from now could give you advice, what would it be?
Focus harder, masturbate softer.
Scientology inspired questions. Feel free to go into detail if you need to. Here we go…
Do you lie about yourself? I’ve been known to exaggerate for effect.
Do you connect yourself with bad influences? I have been known to connect with an array of good and bad influences
Should you be punished forever? No, that sounds uncomfortable.
Have you ever invented perverted sexual practices? I have several in the pipeline, just waiting for the right woman/women.
Is there a past life that you can’t talk about? I was fat in 5th grade. It’s hard to talk about, but I’ve been getting fatter again lately, so it’s getting easier to reconnect with that era
