Stand-up spotlight: Bobby Crane

Friday, July 27th, 2012

One of Denver’s regulars is coming out to play…meet BOBBY CRANE!

Bobby Crane got his start in comedy by doing John Lithgow impersonations for his great aunts bingo club after seeing a particulary inspiring episode of Third Rock From The Sun. He doesn’t believe in 3-D movies and he has an irrational fear of lightbulbs. Look for him every Wednesday at your local post office where he volunteers to lick patrons envelopes for them at a minimal fee.

Mara recently won best comic at the Laugh Tracks Comedy Festival and is a founding member of LadyFace, Denver’s first all female sketch group. Stand-up spotlight: Andy Sell

Thursday, July 26th, 2012

Hey everybody meet !

Andy Sell was born in Iowa, went to high school in Colorado, college in Santa Fe and currently resides in Los Angeles where he hosts the best open mic ever at Silverlake Lounge every Sunday and can be found every other night aggressively hugging comics outside of bars. He transitioned to comedy from the cutthroat and glamorous world of spoken word poetry. Andy likes beer, horror movies, early 00s screamo, and watching kittens torture insects in the way that death playfully stalks all of us. Andy recently performed three nights at the Hollywood Fringe Fest, one of which actually went pretty well. Anybody else really lose it during the Roseanne series finale?

Stand-up spotlight: Amy Miller

Thursday, July 26th, 2012

Today we’re meeting AMY MILLER!

Amy Miller has been instrumental in producing independent comedy in the San Francisco Bay Area. A kind of homeroom mom, she likes to plan shit and boss people around and tell jokes in an orderly fashion and make sure IS EVERYBODY HAVING A GOOD TIME?! Amy’s a Bay Area native, a classical soprano/ occasional pop punk back-up singer, a fancy business lady and a lead producer in Sylvan Productions. As seen at the Noise Pop Festival, Five Funny Females, the SF Punchline, Cobb’s Comedy Club and as a regular headliner at The Purple Onion, Amy is not only a San Francisco favorite, but a fast rising star in the comedy world.

Stand-up spotlight: Bob Palos

Monday, July 23rd, 2012

We can’t wait for you to meet BOB PALOS

This is Bob Palos. He’s uneducated, over aware and filled with doubt. He takes an unassuming approach in his comedy to explain why everyone and everything is stupid and there’s nothing Bob won’t tackle and dissect into futility for the sake of his self righteousness.

Laugh Track: How long have you been a stand-up comic?

Bob: I started in August 2007, I’d just moved to Chicago that week and was sitting around on the internet looking for something to do.

What other comics will you be watching during the festival?

I’m pretty bad at remembering peoples names but I know there’s one guy in Denver who I thought was pretty cool. He was white and had a mustache.  (more…)

It’s time to meet ADAM CAYTON-HOLLAND!

Despite being born into a white, upper-middle class family, Adam has been able to overcome the numerous non-existent hurdles that have faced him to become by far the funniest comedian on his block. He is a national touring headliner and plays clubs and colleges all over the country. He has performed on such illustrious, indie shows as Comedy Bang Bang and Meltdown in Los Angeles, as well as Whiplash and Pretty Good Friends in New York. He’s also participated in such comedy festivals as the Bentzen Ball in Washington D.C., the Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland and the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival, and his writing has appeared in the Onion’s A.V. Club and Spin Magazine. He’s featured in the book “Mock Stars: Indie Comedy and the Dangerously Funny,” and recently made his television debut on ABC’s “Happy Endings.” He was also recently featured on the Nerdist podcast and his monthly show and web series “The Grawlix” is a critically-lauded darling child that you should know and love ( www.grawlixcomedy.com). Stand-up spotlight: Chris Charpentier

Friday, July 20th, 2012

One of Denver’s finest. Meet CHRIS CHARPENTIER!

Chris Charpentier likes the lighter side of life, mostly because he is small and he has to ask for help with heavy stuff and that’s embarrassing.  Chris has quickly made a name for himself in the Denver comedy scene and helps run the weekly stand up showcase Too Much Fun! with his comedy cohorts, The Fine Gentleman’s Club.  He is as funny as he is nice and he is nice all day long.  Also, Chris wrote this.
